Pros & Cons of staying in hotels and guesthouses
​Pros:

• ​a massive range available from huge luxury resorts to intimate guesthouses 

• restaurants and possibly room service on hand for food morning, noon and night.
• someone to come and tidy your room and make your bed each day
• reception desk with support 24/7
• many hotels have lots of great facilities such as gyms, water parks, huge swimming pools, entertainment programme and kids clubs
• less isolated, often more centrally located 
• no need to feel 'responsible' for the property as with self catering accommodation

​Cons:

• ​if holidaying with children it can sometimes be tricky to put them to bed and have space to enjoy the evening
• a bit more disjointed for big groups
• no washing machine and laundry is often charged per item so harder to pack light 
• less privacy and independence

BUT it is possible to get all kinds of different hotels and guesthouses so also consider the following:

• ​you can get a villa/apartment in a complex with hotel facilities, for example, ​'Aparthotels' are becoming more common
• if you are a group you may be able to hire a hotel or guesthouse exclusively
• booking a suite for a group or family often works really well as there are often seperate bedrooms which gives eveyone a bit more space and makes bedtime easier
• Some hotels come with private pools or your own jacuzzi on the terrace
