Flight search - favourites
These are our favourite flight searching tools:
Skyscanner*
Google flights

Flight search - the best of the rest

There are a number of other search engines which do similar flight searches.  Lots of them also let you search and book other things such as accommodation and car hire.  If you want to check them out try these:
www.kayak.co.uk - clean, simple site for booking flights, hotels, car hire and more.
www.momondo.co.uk - compares the best offers on flights, hotels, car hire and package holidays.
www.expedia.co.uk - flights, hotels and cars plus some nice extras and a 'things to do' tabs with some great ideas.
www.opodo.co.uk* - clear and useful with online booking for flights, hotels, car hire and  lots of handy extras.
www.kiwi.com* - just discovered this one - it lets you search for planes, trains and buses.  Also check out the 'Nomad' feature which lets you search for multiple destinations on your trip.

Websites which give you other information about flying
Seat Guru - find the best seat to sit in on your flight.

Skytrax - Hundreds of airlines and airports reviewed on criteria such as service, entertainment and value.

Flight time calculator - find out flight times between destinations.

Flight Clubs
I have to confess to not actually having booked a flight using information from a flight club however  they get good press and very positive reviews. They also have some great information about searching for cheap flights. The basic principle is that you sign up to their mailing list - both have a free sign up and a premium paid upgrade - and whenever they spot an amazing flight deal they email you. Particularly worth look at if you have a clear destination in mind and are flexible about your dates.

Jack's Flight Club - Claims to save an average of £400 for a return ticket. The 'Travel Hub' tab is worth a look for more information about finding bargain flights. Free sign up and £35 per year premium

Scott's Flight Club - Similar site with similar claims and some interesting guides. Free sign up and $39 per year upgrade.

Popular charter airlines
These 'traditional' holiday companies offer flight only options often with some great last minute deals. they also offer holidays packages, car hire and cruises.

How to find a campsite
Cool camping - lots of hand picked sites in the UK and across Europe.  Many sites have glamping options and you can search by certain criteria including whether you are allowed campfires or not.
UK campsites - this website has an amazing 185,000 campsites listed meaning you can find one pretty much anywhere you could possibly want to go.  There are some handy search criteria you can use to narrow it down and despite the name there are campsites all over Europe and as far flung as Australia.
Campsites.co.uk - lots of UK campsites, useful information and inspiration.  Some great tips for first time campers and lots of ideas of where to go and what to do.
Pub Campsites - does exactly what it says!  Pubs that let you camp on their premises.  Often really good value with booze and food a few paces away - what more could you want?
The camping and caravan club - lots of search and booking options with advice and tips for camping in the UK and Europe.
Alan Rogers - over 8000 sites in the UK and Europe with detailed descriptions and handy search tools.  All site listed are inspected regularly by their own team of inspectors. Lots of comfortable sites with loads of facilities.

Another option is to search on Google Maps and put 'campsites' into the search bar.  This gives you the chance to move around certain areas and see exactly where the sites are.  This often throws up some random sites which don't come up on other searches.

In any event I would look where your campsite is on Google maps so that you can make sure it really is where you think it is.  Always good to check the it's not near a  busy road and that the shops/pub/beach/ are where you are expecting them to be!
